In response to the statement of the Management Board of the National Council of Chambers of Agriculture of May 21, 2024, at the request of the Lublin Chamber of Agriculture to qualify strawberry cultivation as a perennial crop, due to the obligation to meet the requirements of the GAEC 7 standard, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development provided the following information:
– In accordance with your request, we asked ARiMR to confirm the information that the cultivation of strawberries as a perennial plant in the ARiMR IT system is excluded from rotation under the GAEC 7 standard. The information obtained from ARiMR shows that due to the fact that the strawberry is a crop on arable land, it is not excluded from rotation, like permanent crops. Such an exclusion can be implemented in the IT system for processing applications, starting from 2025 – explains the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to agricultural chambers.

He adds that farmers can also meet the requirements of the GAEC 7 standard by diversifying crops. Due to the simplification of meeting the requirements of the GAEC 7 standard, from 2024, farms with an area of arable land exceeding 10 ha will be able to choose between crop rotation and diversification.
As explained by the Ministry of Agriculture, crop diversification involves, in the case of farms:
- over 10 ha up to 30 ha of arable land – at least 2 different crops on arable land, but the main crop cannot occupy more than 75% of arable land,
- over 30 ha of arable land – at least 3 different crops on arable land, where the main crop cannot occupy more than 75% of arable land, and two main crops together cannot occupy more than 95% of arable land.
