Production grew the most in the Stavropol Territory (by 143% year-on-year), Lipetsk Region (+95.53%), Moscow (+74.43%), Kirov Region (+63.55) and St. Petersburg (+49 ,66). A drop in production in the first half of 2024 was recorded in the Nizhny Novgorod region (only 47.98% of the volume produced in the first six months of 2023 was produced here), Dagestan (-52.88%), Tula region (-76.41 %), Orenburg region (-76.84%) and Belgorod region (-79.04%).
Most vodka is produced in the Moscow region (17% of total production), Tatarstan (12.73%), Bashkiria (6.27%), Mordovia (4.91%) and Adygea (4.59%).
“Although vodka production in Russia has been declining in recent years, 2024 will be an exception for producers of strong alcohol, beer and beer drinks. It is expected that vodka sales volumes at the end of the year will increase by 5–8% compared to 2023,” said Maxim Chernigovsky, General Director of the Club of Alcohol Market Professionals .
According to him, this is due to a significant increase in excise taxes from May of this year on most types of alcoholic products, with the exception of strong alcohol, beer and beer drinks. The expert believes that such an excise policy will lead to an increase in sales of vodka, beer and beer drinks in 2024.
