Now the first building is being created in Lucavsala, for which five floors have already been built. In addition to this complex, the city council transferred 10 hectares of land for free use to the Latvian Football Federation for the construction of a stadium. In total, a third of Lucavsala is planned to be built up, reports Lsm.lv. The diversity of nature, peace and tranquility are greatly appreciated by the tenants of garden houses in Lucavsala, who have been taking care of the territory given to them for use for years. A couple of years ago, about two hectares of kindergartens were already liquidated. At the beginning of this year, the Riga City Council decided to transfer 10 hectares of Lucavsala land for free use to the Latvian Football Federation, which plans to build a stadium there. Even then, kindergarten tenants objected to this and during loud protests near the city council building. But Lucavsala has recently become very desirable for investors. Riga Executive Director Janis Lange emphasized that increasing the housing stock is important for the capital. One third of Lucavsala is planned for development. “I think you have to be able to get along, and this just confirms the diversity when modern buildings can exist in green areas. We see that this housing stock is needed in the city,” Lange said. Representatives of the Daugavkrastu dārzi society, however, do not remember that there was any public discussion. The first building of the Lucavsala residential complex is scheduled to be completed in the spring of next year, and it is now unknown when construction of the football stadium may begin.
