- Rapeseed is a demanding crop species.
- It needs not only balanced macro- and micronutrient fertilization, but also refined protection.
- To meet farmers' expectations, companies supplying agriculture introduce new solutions that can be used when sowing rapeseed.
Insecticide dressing in the protection of winter rapeseed
Treating winter rapeseed seeds with an insecticide is not as obvious as in the case of a fungicide. Only in some companies the seed material is prepared in this way by default, while in others it remains an option available for an additional fee. As for the substance, the standard is flupyradifurone, or cyantraniliprole. From 2021, it is no longer possible to treat rapeseed with neonicotinoids.
In what situations can such a solution be useful? Young rapeseed plants are primarily threatened by flea beetles, cabbage leaf beetle, peach aphid, cabbage aphid and vegetable whitefly. These pests not only directly destroy plants, but also, in the case of aphids, can transmit diseases. For this reason, especially in regions with particularly high risk, it is worth investing in insecticide protection already at the sowing stage. The effectiveness of the treatments remains until 3-4 true leaves are present.
