Sfinks sees itself as a hotel tycoon

Sfinks widzi się w roli potentata także hotelowego

– After the success of the first SPHINX Hotel in Żabia Wola near Warsaw, we are working on preparing a licensing program for hotels, as it may become an attractive development direction for us. Significant increases in revenues, between 30% and 185%, are recorded by restaurants operating under the SPHINX brand, which were previously run by independent restaurateurs – comments Mateusz Cacek, vice-president of the management board of Sfinks Polska SA.

Sfinks intends to develop by opening new restaurants in the franchise model. This year he opened SPHINX restaurants in Toruń's Old Town and in Gliwice, where he returned after an absence of several years. Two restaurants under the SPHINX brand, in Poznań in Galeria Pestka, and city premises in Jarocin, are at an advanced stage of preparation. In Rzeszów, a restaurant was opened at al. Majora Wacława Kopisto 8a, in the place where there was previously another restaurant, and is run by franchisees.

In the second half of the year, two additional SPHINX restaurants will be opened in retail parks – near Warsaw (Glinianka park) and Opole (Ozimska park). Further locations for the SPHINX brand are being negotiated, including in Pomerania and Lower Silesia.

Sfinks is also working on further strengthening The Burgers, which was created during the pandemic. Two more The Burgers by SPHINX locations are scheduled to open in the coming weeks: in Gorzów Wielkopolski, in the Askana shopping center, and in Komorniki near Poznań, in the Auchan shopping center. Sfinks also plans to develop the SPHINX Coctail Bar concept. After the location in Jarocin, it is planned to open another location in Silesia.
– We are currently facing an important decision to choose a logistics company for the coming years that will cope with the development of the group in various areas, not only the restaurant chain, but also our delivery channel, ready meals and, in the near future, also the hotel chain, which has slightly different requirements – says Sylwester Cacek , president of the management board of Sfinks Polska.

The company has two main goals for this year – popularization of the banquet and breakfast offer. Most SPHINX restaurants now open from 8 or 9 a.m. with a new offer of morning meals. The new breakfast menu includes proposals for "large and small appetites", savory and sweet, as well as coffee and tea at promotional prices.

The catering sales of the Sfinks Polska group in the second quarter of 2024 increased by 14% y/y to PLN 52.02 million. Throughout the entire half-year, the group recorded catering revenues of PLN 99.5 million, which means an increase of 10.8% y/y. The turnover of the comparable network increased by 11.5% y/y to PLN 47.63 million in the second quarter of this year, while in the entire half-year, L4L sales increased by 10.5% to PLN 92.39 million.

The Sfinks Polska Group manages 104 catering establishments in Poland, including a chain of 69 SPHINX restaurants (casual dining segment), a chain of 30 Piwiarnia pubs (gastro pub segment), 2 Chłopskie Jadło restaurants (casual dining segment) and Lepione&Pieczenie by Chłopskie Jadło and 3 premises The Burgers. The company also sells via delivery based on brands available for delivery, including: SPHINX, The Burgers, Oh! PITA, Yolo Chicken or Da Mamma.
