According to the head of SEB Liising, Rein Karofeld, the introduction of a car tax will lead to even more young people giving up on buying their own car.
According to Karofeld, what is currently happening on the car market, at least for now, does not indicate that the period preceding the introduction of the car tax has arrived: the market for new passenger cars has shrunk by almost 14% compared to last year.
"Despite the law being passed, there are no queues outside car dealerships. Perhaps it is because Estonians usually react at the last minute, but other planned tax increases do not inspire much optimism either," says Karofeld.
