Although scientists stress, that in the conditions of European Union agriculture carries with self only about 10 percent. anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases, a in this pool only half are emissions originating from animal production, breeders still are under a large pressure of climate environments. Wanting not wanting necessarily is constantly seeking technological and nutritional solutions, which would allow reduce production of these gases by farmed animals. Nothing for this is surprising, that science is intensively working on solutions to
effectively
solve this problem.

Methane emission reduced by 40 percent
One of examples of such technology is developed by scientists from the University of California preparation on the base of some species of seaweed prepared in form granulate. Studies conducted by specialists have indicated, that its use in populations of meat cattle results in a reduction of methane emissions by nearly 40 proc. What is important, the preparation has been safe and has no negative effects in deteriorating health status of animals, or productive performance.
Scientists have pointed to the fact, that meat cattle – in difference from milk have a greater part of the year on pastures, a this is why pasture bearing is higher emissions of methane. This has a association with greater fiber takeup in food.
In U.S. conditions, meat cattle spend only about three months in breeding alone. The rest of the time grazes on open pastures, while in such system methane emissions are higher. We must seek additives, that will reduce emissions – informed the University of California.
Weed save the climate?
In a study conducted by the university, two groups of cattle counting a 12 pc each. Two crosses of Angus and Wagyu were used. In this two weeks long experiment one of the groups received the preparation, the other while formed the control group. What is important, the tests were conducted under conditions of pastoral keeping, respecting the prevalent practice realities. FurtherAn important aspect is that the developed additive is very easy in application and could be applied for example in posts well known to breeders slides.
As the authors justify, their discovery has so much importance, that it allows real reduction of the problemofmethane emission,whilemaintainingthepreviousscaleofproduction.Thiswouldnotnecessitatereducingpopulation,whichwouldhavehugeeconomicimpacts.
