SberAnalytics: the income of Russians who changed jobs last year increased by 20%

SberAnalitika and Rabota.ru conducted a study and found out how the situation with labor migration is changing in 2024. More than 3,600 service users from all regions of Russia took part in the study.

According to a study by Rabota.ru, more than half of Russians (57%) are ready to change jobs this year if they receive a good offer. 17% intend to change it in any case. More than a quarter of respondents (26%) are satisfied with their current place of work.

The main criteria that push Russians to change their workforce are: high salaries and financial rewards – 83% responded. In addition, adequate team and management (55%), office location (38%) and flexible work hours (37%) are important.

The compensation package, benefits and bonuses, as well as professional development opportunities were chosen by 33% of respondents. 30% noted remote work as a plus, and 28% of Russians voted for interesting tasks and opportunities for career growth.

Among other criteria, respondents identified: training opportunities (26%), company reputation and prestige (15%), lack of a dress code (12%), work-life balance (16%) and corporate culture (10%).

49% of respondents said that they are already taking steps to change their activities and are looking for suitable vacancies. 42% are studying professions that may suit them, and 14% are retraining and receiving additional education.

SberAnalytics experts studied in more detail who changes jobs more often and why. According to a study conducted using big data analytics, job mobility is strongly tied to the age of the employee. The younger the employee, the more often he quits and looks for a new job. Thus, in 2023, every fourth Russian aged 18 to 24 changed jobs. The older the employees, the less often they decide to leave the service. For example, only 9% of people of pre-retirement age decided to change jobs.

Men change jobs more often than women: 15% versus 13.7%. Income also has an impact: the higher it is, the lower the likelihood of staff turnover. This once again confirms the thesis that high salaries and financial rewards are the main criteria when choosing a job. If with a salary of less than 27 thousand rubles, 15.8% of workers changed jobs, then with a salary of up to 200 thousand rubles – less than 13%.

Those who decided to quit in 2023 increased their income. On average, such employees began to earn 20% more than before. Young people under 25 are seeing the greatest increase, increasing their earnings by a third on average (more than 33%).

The SberAnalytics study was prepared using the analytical panel “Monitoring the Regional Economy”, analysis period: January 2023 – May 2024.
