According to statistics from the CVKeskus.ee portal, in the second quarter of 2024, the average gross salary offered was between 1,633 and 2,142 euros. This is 12% more than in the same period in 2023. However, compared to the first quarter of 2024, salary offers have decreased by 5%.
Salary offers for middle management and highly qualified specialists showed the greatest increase, reaching an average of 3,317 euros, which is 20% more than the previous year.
In the second quarter, wage offers for mid-level specialists and other office workers increased slightly, by only 2%, to 2,455 euros.
Salaries for skilled workers and specialists increased by 8% over the year to 2,075 euros, while for service and sales workers they increased by 10% to 1,529 euros.
The lowest salary offers were for auxiliary workers – 1419 euros, which is 6% higher than a year ago.
In Harju County, salary offers increased by 15% over the year, amounting to 2,231 euros in the second quarter. In Tartu County, the increase was 10%, and the average salary reached 2,066 euros, and in Pärnu County, the increase was 4%, with the average salary reaching 1,719 euros.
“Despite the increase in salary offers, the number of vacancies in the first half of the year decreased by approximately 20% compared to last year, which increased competition for jobs,” noted Grete Adler, head of recruitment at CVKeskus.ee.
She added that employers were more active than usual in July, and in some major sectors the decline in job openings slowed or even turned into a slight increase. For example, in the construction industry, the number of job openings in July increased by 3% compared to last year.
