The surveyed logistics companies note a significant increase in air cargo traffic in the first half of the year in communication with the countries of the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region (APR). In particular, the volumes of import of various goods have grown significantly, representatives of Delovye Linii and SDEK indicate.

According to Dmitry Khrushchalev, Deputy General Director for Development of the Delovye Linii Group of Companies , air transportation from China and Southeast Asian countries to Russia has grown by 20% year-on-year in six months. Monika Paulauskaite, Head of the International Logistics Service at SDEK, cites approximately the same growth dynamics in this direction. Representatives of the companies do not disclose absolute figures.

The positive dynamics, according to Khrushchalev, are connected, among other things, with the increase in the number of transit routes and the development of the presence of foreign suppliers on Russian marketplaces.

The growth in air cargo volumes on this route is also confirmed by Shuttle Logistic, DPD and ModernWay. Yulia Mayzik, Head of the Air Transportation Department at Stalogistic, reported that the growth in air cargo transportation in the first half of the year was 26% year-on-year, and Asia's share in deliveries reached 86% against 77.4% in January-June 2023. The share of European countries, the USA and Canada decreased to 1.3%.

Carriers are adapting to the current realities, so the main flow of imported air cargo goes to Russia through the hubs of foreign airlines, such as Istanbul for Turkish Airlines, Dubai for Emirates, Belgrade for Air Serbia, etc. After a significant drop in 2022, the import of goods by air transport is showing growth, and air freight rates in 2024 have decreased by 10-20% compared to last year, depending on the destination.
