Based on the results of January – May 2024, retail trade turnover increased by 12.2% compared to the same period last year. In absolute terms, the RTO amounted to 34.2 billion rubles.
One-day retail trade turnover per capita since the beginning of the year amounted to 24.5 rubles compared to 21 rubles for the same period of the previous year.
Organized trade accounted for 94.9%. Here the growth was 13.1%.
Wholesale trade turnover in January–May 2024 amounted to 73.7 billion rubles, or 108.3% in comparable prices to the level of January–May 2023.
Experts believe that the growth of RTO is due to rising wages across the country, but this does not indicate an increase in the income of retailers: their profitability remains at the level of 0.5-1%.

Trade turnover in the public catering sector in January–May 2024 increased by 11.8% and amounted to 2.3 billion rubles in comparable prices compared to the level of January–May 2023.
