There were 3.09 million TVs sold between January and May 2024, down from 3.2 million in the same period in 2023, one retailer said. According to the Marvel Distribution company, in the first half of 2024, 3.6 million televisions were sold in the country. By comparison, sales for the same period in 2023 were 3.8 million, a decline of more than 5% in volume terms. In addition, the company noted that over the year the average price of a TV increased by 17%, reaching 29 thousand rubles.
“This is partly due to the “washing out” of stocks of devices purchased at a low exchange rate, while new supplies are calculated at a higher one. The cost is also affected by the global increase in prices for components at the production stage. Therefore, the market volume in monetary terms will most likely be higher than last year,” the organization believes.
Prices for televisions have really increased – on average in the market for the year by 20%, for a number of models – by 25-30%, said leading analyst of Mobile Research Group Eldar Murtazin . The decline in sales is also facilitated by the fact that a lot of these devices were purchased in Russia last year, the expert noted.
