At the same time, two thirds of respondents (65%) believe that they do not really need luxury bags, and a third (35%), on the contrary, are sure that at least one such expensive branded accessory is absolutely necessary for them. This is also confirmed by analytics: in the first six months of 2024, Russian women showed interest in premium brands of such accessories, for example, Furla and Coccinelle.
According to Lamoda, users spent 58% more on bags in the first half of 2024 than a year earlier. At the same time, many Russian women do not attach much importance to the cost of women's handbags: 73% are ready to spend an average of up to 5,000 rubles on this accessory, another 19% – from 5,000 to 10,000 rubles, and 4% – from 10,000 to 25,000 rubles.
The most generous bag buyers are residents of the capital, 18% of Muscovites are ready to pay up to 50 thousand rubles for a new bag. Second place was shared by residents of Krasnodar and St. Petersburg (12% each). Slightly less generous were Rostovites (9%) and Saratovites (8%). Residents of Voronezh and Volgograd (6% each) round out the top five lovers of expensive bags.
While price and a solid brand are not very important for Russian women, they consider convenience and maximum compliance with their wardrobe to be mandatory. 72% of respondents have “that one favorite bag” that seems ideal to them. At the same time, every tenth Russian woman (9%) takes care of such a bag and wears it only on special occasions.
"The ideal bag", according to Russian women, should be predominantly black (27%). A little less often, respondents prefer beige (17%), brown or milky (12% each), and dark blue (10%). The absolute favorite among materials is genuine leather (43%), but eco-leather (25%) and artificial leather (20%) are also in demand. This is confirmed by analytical data from Lamoda, most often Russian women buy bags in black, beige and brown colors.
When choosing the size of the "ideal bag", women put convenience first – for 42% of Russian women, this is a medium-sized bag that can hold a laptop, books or purchases. It is followed by a small bag that can hold cosmetics and a phone (40%). According to Lamoda analytics for the first half of the year, beach bags (+64%), shoulder bags (+59%), backpacks (+39%) and belt bags (+38%) have become more popular.
It is interesting how faithful the respondents are to their accessories – 20% constantly use the same bag for a year, another 17% – for several years, and 16% – for about six months. Also, every fifth Russian woman (21%) keeps bags as a keepsake, even when she stops using them.
