“Our Trout” co-financed with EU funds

Promoting the consumption of certified aquaculture products – particularly trout – is one of the main objectives of the next installment of the “Our Trout” educational campaign, co-financed with funds from the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund for 2021 – 2027.

The communication activities implemented by the Salmonid Fish Producers Association are aimed at promoting fish from local, certified farms.

– We are committed to ensuring that consumers consciously choose certified aquaculture products. Trout from local fish farms – low-impact and resource-efficient farms – meet the highest environmental standards and strict veterinary and food safety standards. It’s thanks to the farmers that we have access to local, fresh fish that hasn’t traveled thousands of miles to be on our tables. Hence the idea for the Partnership Program aimed at food establishments. More and more people are paying attention to the origin of the product and its certification, and local food is gaining in importance and popularity. We want serving trout with the “Our Trout” certificate to become the norm, and consumers to be able to taste it in their favorite restaurants,” says Daniel Krysinski, president of the Salmon Fish Producers Association.

Pilot Partner Program

The Salmon Fish Producers Association has been awarding sustainable and responsible fish farms with the “Our Trout” certificate since 2019. The certificate guarantees that the entity using it offers consumers trout bred in full respect of Polish law, European standards and the environment.

-To obtain the “Our Trout” certificate, a number of requirements must be met, including the submission of a set of documents reporting, among other things, farming conditions. After a thorough analysis of the breeding documentation, and a positive opinion, the certificate is awarded for one year. Any breeder wishing to extend its validity is required to provide complete reporting documentation confirming the continuity of the maintained standard of breeding operations,” explains Daniel Krysinski.

The “Our Trout for HoReCa” Partnership Program will last until 31.12.2025. Applications are accepted by email to: [email protected], and the Program Regulations are available at naszpstrag.pl, in the HoReCa tab.

About the Our Trout campaign

The Our Trout campaign is a continuation of educational and promotional activities aimed at building awareness of sustainable aquaculture and popularizing the consumption of one of its products – trout.

The initiator, originator and organizer of the campaign is the Association of Salmonid Fish Producers, an organization that currently unites about 60 fish farms across Poland.

The campaign is co-financed with funds from the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund for 2021 – 2027.
