This week the Harju County Court initiated the reorganization of the Hortes gardening business. The problems associated with rapid expansion can prove fatal to a business.
Hortes was synonymous with a successful gardening business. In March 2006, the company opened the largest and most modern garden center in the Baltics in Laagri, in November 2019 the opening of the Tähesai garden center received much attention, and since the garden center concept has proven itself in Estonia, Hortes opened a center in Riga in 2021.
Unfortunately, this was followed by failure. The company's 2021/2022 report revealed that the expansion into Latvia was a mistake and the Riga garden center was closed in June 2022. This resulted in a commercial loss of €806,000.
