- COBORU has published "Preliminary results of variety yields in post-registration experiments" for winter rapeseed for 2024.
- The publication also includes yield results for winter rapeseed divided into regions.
- According to PDO research, the yield pattern set for 2024 was the lowest in region I, i.e. the voivodeship. Pomeranian and West Pomeranian.
We wrote a lot this year about the fact that the average yield of winter rapeseed does not impress black gold producers. Many experts indicate that this is the result of many factors unfavorable for cultivation, which we discussed in previous articles, such as:

Rape is growing poorly in Lower Silesia. There are no revelations
This is also confirmed by the lower yield results obtained by COBORU as part of the annual post-registration variety trials (PDO). Based on these results, it can be concluded that winter rapeseed yielded the lowest in 3 years.

Rapeseed yield varies regionally
As pointed out in many articles, the yield of winter rapeseed was not the same everywhere. Agricultural errors took double revenge on plantations stressed by weather factors. Various factors negatively affecting plants were also recorded in the regions. For example, spring frosts played a major role in the southwestern regions. Drought, however, took part of the crop mainly on plantations located in the center of the country, Masovia, Warmia and Mazury and Podlasie.
According to COBORU research, however, plantations in the north-western regions showed the poorest results. To some extent, this could be influenced by long-lasting excessive soil moisture, locally with flooding reported in early spring in these regions.
Where did rapeseed yield the best in 2024?
Based on regional results, winter rapeseed yielded best in 2024 in the 6th region, which includes three voivodeships, i.e.: VI – voivodeship. Lesser Poland, Świętokrzyskie, Podkarpackie. The standard set this year yielded 47.2 dt/ha (the standard was the average yield of the following varieties: Derrick, Kuba, DK Excited, LG Arnold). However, it should be noted that the results come from only one location and field experiments. The best-yielding variety in the comparison gave 121% of the standard, i.e. over 5.7 t/ha.
In the next two regions (II and IV), the average standard yield was estimated at 44.7 dt/ha.
As mentioned above, rapeseed yielded the lowest in the province. West Pomeranian Voivodeship and Pomeranian Voivodeship, and the results are averaged for 1 or 4 experimental locations carried out in this region.
