The extremely hot weather that has prevailed in the southern regions of Russia since the end of last week has boosted sales of soft drinks and ice cream in stores of the Magnit retail chain.

Demand for kvass in Kuban, Stavropol and the Rostov region at the end of last week and the beginning of this week approximately doubled compared to the same indicators a year earlier. The largest share of this drink was sold in the Krasnodar Territory, and the Rostov Region became the leader in terms of sales growth in physical terms.
In general, sales of soft drinks in these regions increased by more than 1.5 times. Demand for beer grew more slowly: its sales increased by about a third. Demand for ice cream in the Stavropol Territory increased by more than 1.5 times, in the Rostov Region – by more than 40%, and in the Kuban – by a third.
Across the entire chain of Magnit stores, sales of ice cream and kvass grew at a more modest pace: kvass was sold by 36% more than a year earlier, all soft drinks by 29% more, ice cream by 26%, and beer by 17%.
