Women are constantly faced with patronizing "advice" and stereotypes when it comes to finances, and the lack of financial education holds women back on their path to high positions, says expert Yulia Komkin. Investments are a basic need, even with a small salary you can start investing. To do this, you need to develop a habit, says Yulia. It is worth starting to put aside a small amount, it will gradually drag on, and over time the person will grow and in the process gain the necessary knowledge. SEB's investment study among people in the three Baltic countries in 2023 showed that women prefer to invest money in investment funds and term deposits. This is explained by the guaranteed fixed term of the cash deposit and constant small growth. Such deposits were made by 58% of women in Estonia. While men who are involved in investing are more prone to risk, and some of the most popular financial instruments among them are ETFs (exchange-traded funds) and shares. In Estonia, 67% of men invested in them. "If we talk about investments, women invest better. Firstly, they are more patient and, surprisingly, less emotional with investments," the strategist noted. When asked where one can get knowledge about finance, Yulia Komkin answered that living in a rapidly developing world, a person should, first of all, start to be interested in everything in general.
