"I know that people are always interested in prices, so I am not afraid to share that in Italy you can buy a house a little cheaper than in Lithuania. We have reached a stage in life when the child has already grown up, we are 40 years old, we have already arranged housing in Vilnius – why not think about a second home? We noticed that friends started buying housing in Druskininkai, then in Juodkrante (a village in Lithuania – editor's note ) or another resort.
But the prices in Lithuania seemed too high to us. A Soviet brick house without utilities in the middle of an open field costs almost as much as an apartment in Vilnius. The first inspiration came to us during Covid-19. Our friends had a summer house in Crete, and when the lockdown began, they packed up and went there. And we were suffering in an apartment in the Old Town,” Aiste recalls.
