During the border control of goods at the Paternieki checkpoint, border inspectors of the Food and Veterinary Service (PVD) checked a cargo from Afghanistan containing chili powder, which was supposed to be sent to France. Laboratory tests of a sample of chili powder showed that it was added to the prohibited food colors Sudan I and Sudan III. PVD posted a message on the European Commission's Rapid Alert System to alert the competent French food control authority. Further actions with these products will be carried out by the French service. The cargo volume was 216.2 kilograms.
