President Vladimir Putin has signed a law legalizing cryptocurrency mining in Russia. Only the country's work entities and registered individual entrepreneurs will be able to do this, the Russian agency TASS reports.
"Mining" cryptocurrencies means creating them through tedious and energy-intensive computer calculations.
Russians will not lose the right to acquire cryptocurrencies themselves in this way. However, they will not be allowed to exceed the energy consumption specified by the relevant authorities. If you exceed this limit, you will need to register your business.
Russia approves and accepts cryptocurrencies due to problems with international payments that arose due to sanctions imposed after the attack on Ukraine in February 2022.
