Primark is set to open its first store in Manhattan in New York City as it pushes ahead with its US expansion.
The value fashion giant has signed a lease for its first Manhattan storefront at Herald Square, which will become the Primark’s US flagship, WWD reported.
The 54,000 sq ft store will house fashion, homewares and beauty across four floors and will be its 11th store in the state of New York, once its site in Queens opens later this year.
Primark said the opening date for its Herald Square store will be announced at a later date.
The retailer’s US president Kevin Tulip said: “Opening a location in the epicentre of US fashion is going to be an exciting milestone for Primark US.
“When the opportunity arose to bring Primark to Herald Square in Manhattan, a store with exceptionally high foot traffic, national influence, and perfectly located to attract customers who already know us from other Primark stores in the boroughs and surrounding areas, we knew it was the perfect fit.”
The fashion giant kicked off its “aggressive” US expansion two years ago, after opening its first US store in Boston back in 2015. It revealed plans to open 60 stores in the country over the next five years.
The retailer currently operates 27 stores across the pond in 11 states, soon to be 12.
