Forecasts for the piglet market
Jakub Dorożyński, sales specialist from PH Konrad, maintains his opinion that further reductions may appear on the weaner market.
– A smaller reduction in piglet prices could be a suggestion that the market will slow down a bit. On the other hand, we are still dealing with a surplus of weaners on the market. It is possible that this stock exchange result was intended to stimulate the market a bit. I think we can expect further reductions, but I think they will not be very large. These may be cosmetic corrections, like this week, says Dorożyński.
– The market is also influenced by the harvest season, which causes producers to delay plantings. Therefore, the moment when the harvest ends may be a turning point on the weaner market, he adds.

Current prices of domestic weaners (July 12, 2024)?
In the case of domestic weaners, most of the surveyed sales points decided to offer discounts (from PLN 5 to PLN 50/piece).
According to the results of our weekly survey, rates for domestically produced weaners weighing 20 kg currently average PLN 368/piece. net, i.e. by PLN 2/pcs. net less than a week earlier. The prices of weaners in this mass range from PLN 360 to PLN 370/piece. net.
In turn, domestic weaners weighing 30 kg cost on average PLN 438/piece. net, i.e. PLN 12/pcs. net less than last week. Their prices range from PLN 410 to PLN 560/pcs. net.

How much do imported weaners cost (July 12, 2024)?
In turn, in the case of imported piglets, almost all surveyed sales points decided to maintain prices. There were also occasional discounts (from PLN 6 to 9/piece).
Weaner pigs imported from Denmark are currently valued at an average of PLN 428/piece. net, i.e. by PLN 3/pcs. net less than last week. Their prices range from PLN 360 to PLN 487/piece. net. The prices given are for weaners weighing 30 kg.
