Unfortunate. From the first we will write, that for increases in prices there is no thing to count. For the whole season 2024 the prices of steel scrap at purchase points were very stable and in principle nothing different from the situation of the second half of 2023 year. The changes were less than 0.10 – 0.20 £ per kg and if they have already changed, then they have go down. Crazy jumps in price like in 2022 year, barely anyone predicts. Prices are affected obviously by all movements in world markets, such as inflation, the situation in the steel market, geopolitics, but though that conflicts

Drastic decrease prices of trailers. Prices are returning to levels from years ago
If no thing happens in our part world, that we can count on a further significant decrease in the price of scrap metal. Experts are agreeing: that smelters are reducing production, and even sometimes they are stopping, mainly because of the increasing demand for scrap. All is resulting from fewer production in factories requiring components. So we constantly write about interruptions in production of agricultural machinery and this is reflected in the market of steel. Similarly it is also in motorization and other branches of industry. Additionally the EU regulations do not help producers out of the crisis, imposing continuous “environmental” restrictions.
From the other side the already mentioned regulations require the use of recycled materials, as products less polluting the environment, so in the case
of improving economy the demand for scrap will certainly increase, and this will result in
rising prices at supermarkets. The problem is that that it is unknown when this will
occur.
