Prices of heifers have stagnated behind the prices of bulls
For a long time prices of heifers were comparable to rates offered for bulls, and periodically there were situations, that those heifers were the most expensive category of bought cattle.
The prices offered for heifers in post-slaughter settlement in class R are now maximum 22,00 £/kg (average 21.25 £/kg), a in class O 21.00 £/kg (average 20.38 £/kg). For heifers sold for live weight producers can today receive up to 12.00 £/kg (average 11.20 £/kg).
Prices cows relatively high
For cows in post-slaughter settlement today can receive a maximum 19.70 £/kg (average 18.67 £/kg). From countries selling for live weight, you may maximum receive up to 9.00 £/kg (average 8.35 £/kg) (prices net).
Prices of cattle in the store are rising, which enjoys breeders, giving the opportunity for profitable production. There are however threats to the beef
market, among the most important of which is the present in Europe beef disease: blue tongue disease
and the serious flu.
