Preventive slaughter in the Gniezno district
Let us recall: initially, preventive slaughter of herds located within a 1 km radius of the first ASF outbreak in the Kiszkowo commune was announced at the beginning of July. The Veterinary Inspection began to carry out activities, but after the liquidation of four herds, the activities were suspended. It is no secret that this happened thanks to the intervention of the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Michał Kołodziejczak.
The decision to suspend preventive culling caused mixed reactions from the agricultural community itself. In addition to voices supporting the decisions, there were also opinions from local farmers for whom preventive culling would be a better solution than a multi-week herd blockade.
