Pretending to be magicians, they cheated cashiers. Arrest in Warsaw

Udając magików oszukiwali kasjerów. Zatrzymanie w Warszawie

The scam involved distracting shop assistants in shopping malls. The men, aged 50 and 44, approached the cash registers, asking to exchange small banknotes for higher denominations. During the transaction, they cleverly managed to give the cashiers a much lower amount than the amount they had taken from the cash register. When the shop assistant realised he had been scammed, one of the criminals would start loudly counting the banknotes on the counter, shuffling and rearranging them, which caused additional confusion. In the end, he would hand over a smaller amount of cash again. Meanwhile, throughout the whole operation, the second man bombarded the cashier with numerous questions, which further confused the victim.

They cheated cashiers. They are in custody

Within a few hours of the "tricks", the fraudsters were spotted in two pavilions, where the sellers realized that they were dealing with dishonest practices. Officers immediately took action after receiving disturbing information from the store's security. Whether the fraudsters were operating in other stores will be revealed by further investigation.

Both the 50-year-old and the 44-year-old have been charged with fraud, which carries a prison sentence of up to eight years. In the face of undeniable evidence secured by police officers at the scene, the perpetrators confessed to everything. The case is being handled by the Warsaw Mokotów District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw, which is supervising the criminal proceedings in this case.
