Matylda/Łukasiewicz and Maria Peszek, Krzysztof Zalewski, Natalia Przybysz, Błażej Król, Justyna Święs and Abradab in the concert-spectacle "Earth 2.0. Once upon a time there was a man" during the PRECOP 29 climate conference in Spodek in Katowice
– We plan to create a sensitive and at the same time brutally honest image of man in the modern world – announces Matylda Damięcka, artistic director of the event. – We want to show its beauty and ugliness, aspirations and weaknesses, causative and destructive power, and sometimes enormous strength in contrast to such bottomless powerlessness towards ourselves – he adds.
The musical director of the event is Radek Łukasiewicz. They will be filled with songs important for contemporary Polish music and songs from the debut album of the Matylda/Łukasiewicz duo entitled "Mother", which has been topping the charts and the top of music charts since autumn 2023.
For the needs of the show, a band will be assembled, which will include outstanding Polish musicians. Matylda and Łukasiewicz have invited special guests to cooperate: they will be joined on stage by Maria Peszek and Natalia Przybysz – one of the most famous artists involved; Krzysztof Zalewski – rockman with an activist streak; Marcin "Abradab" Marten – a cult figure in Polish hip-hop, known from the band Kaliber 44; Justyna Święs – co-creator of The Dumplings, gifted with a voice that is a perfect combination of anxiety, delicacy and vibrating strength, and Błażej Król – vocalist, songwriter and one of the most original figures on the Polish music scene.
Climate change affects everyone and needs to be talked about in many areas
– I am glad that the conference, co-created by the PTWP Group and UN Global Compact Network Poland, is gaining an artistic event that will perfectly complement the topics discussed within it. Climate change affects absolutely everyone and should be talked about in many areas – also thanks to the artists involved. This year, our talks will focus on, among others: on adaptation to climate change, pro-environmental challenges of cities, urban planners, architects, circularity in business and, finally, climate education. I invite you to the International Congress Center in Katowice, and in the evening of the first day to the audience of the iconic Spodek to participate in the concert together – says Wojciech Kuśpik, president of the PTWP Group – one of the organizers of the event.
– The climate crisis requires us to take multi-level actions, including raising awareness of the condition of the planet and the quality of life of its inhabitants. The language of art is created for this, so I am very glad that this year the PRECOP program also includes a musical event taking up these important themes. Only by acting together and understanding the importance of the challenge of the climate crisis can we actively counteract it and preserve the planet for future generations. I warmly invite you to participate in the concert and listen to the voices of scientists, politicians, representatives of the world of culture, NGOs, business and activists during this year's PRECOP conference – Kamil Wyszkowski, executive director of UN Global Compact Network Poland.
