PRECOP29 is a conference preceding and preparing for participation in the UN Climate Change Summit – COP 29 (UN Climate Change Conference) in Baku, Azerbaijan. Registration for the conference has started.
As in previous years, the 3rd edition of the PRECOP conference is organized in Katowice by United Nations Global Compact Network Poland, the Polish office of the world's largest UN initiative for cooperation with business supporting sustainable development, and the PTWP Group, organizer of the European Economic Congress and other conferences and special events.
We invite all interested parties to participate in the event, which will be an opportunity to discuss the future of our planet, meet experts and exchange experiences and ideas to counteract climate change. PRECOP29, the climate debate before the UN summit. The program includes 10 thematic trends
Last year's edition of PRECOP 28 in Katowice gathered 1,300 stationary and 2,500 online participants. High-ranking representatives of UN and European Union agencies, ambassadors, politicians, former COP presidents and representatives of the world of science and business took part in over 30 sessions.
This year's conference program includes 10 thematic trends. These will include:
- energy transformation,
- green financing,
- circular economy,
- decarbonization of industry,
- ESG reporting,
- biodiversity,
- climate education.
The debate will also include topics related to last year's summit in Dubai, i.e. discussion of progress in achieving climate goals in line with the Paris Agreement, agreement on global goals for the transformation of the energy sector and methods of financing these changes.
– This will be the third edition of the PRECOP climate conference, which has established itself as one of the most important events for all those who are not indifferent to the fate of our planet. We will host representatives of the UN, business, science, climate activists and public administration, and this year also great artists – says Wojciech Kuśpik, president of the PTWP Group.
This year's novelty of the PRECOP conference will be the Climate Talks project, a dynamic formula of speeches by special guests: diplomats, scientists and activists. There will be talks on the open stage, including: about the 2030 Agenda, the role of activists in the fight against climate change, space technology that can counteract this catastrophe, and sustainable fashion and trade.
– Without a sustainable transformation of the global economic system, we will not be able to implement the provisions of the UN 2030 Agenda and the climate goals contained in the Paris Agreement. The involvement of the private sector in the implementation of UN climate policies is more important today than ever, so I am glad that we are meeting again during PRECOP to discuss the most important topics of the upcoming COP29 Climate Summit in Baku – notes Kamil Wyszkowski, executive director of the UN Global Compact Network Poland.
Once again, during the PRECOP gala, the "Green Changer" awards will be presented. They will distinguish people and institutions promoting climate activity and a sustainable lifestyle, as well as ventures, projects and ideas that bring a real change to the natural environment.
PRECOP 29: climate debate before the UN summit in Katowice
For the first time, the PRECOP conference will also be accompanied by a concert. On October 2, Matylda/Łukasiewicz and Maria Peszek, Krzysztof Zalewski, Natalia Przybysz, Błażej Król, Justyna Święs and Abradab will appear on one stage at Spodek in Katowice.
The intermedia event "EARTH 2.0. There was a man" organized by the Matylda/Łukasiewicz duo – one of the hottest duos on the Polish music scene in 2024 – will be an artistic interpretation of the greatest challenges of today.
