Goal – varieties resistant to climate change
The project is a response to the challenges related to the growing need to ensure food security in Poland. PHR plans to create innovative varieties of cereals and legumes, at least several of which will be entered into the national register kept by the Central Center for Research on Cultivated Plant Varieties.
– The new varieties will be characterized by favorable quantitative and qualitative characteristics and adaptation to changing climatic conditions and new agrotechnical requirements resulting from the principles of the European Green Deal – assures the company.

Poznańska Hodowla Plant presents new varieties of cereals
What will the funding be used for?
The project began in January 2024 and will last until the end of 2029. During this time, innovative methods for the assessment and selection of plant materials will be developed and implemented, including: new molecular tools supporting the process of selection and stabilization of plant mechanisms.
PHR also announces the development of new methods of in vitro breeding of winter cereals and the use of drones in breeding processes, enabling precise crop management, which will increase the efficiency of agricultural production.

It is worth emphasizing that the money for this project comes not only from NCBiR, but also from the Research and Development Fund of the National Food Group, which ensures the financial stability of the project. Thanks to the funds obtained, Poznań Plant Breeding will be able to continue its innovative work, contributing to the development of Polish agriculture and improving the food security of our country.
