Pierre Marcolini triples capacity with new plant in Brussels

Chocolatier Pierre Marcolini will soon be able to make three times as many chocolates thanks to the opening of a new production facility in Haren, Brussels. All production still takes place in Belgium.

80 chocolate makers in Brussels

After a year and a half of renovation and a total investment of around 5 million euros, the Belgian chocolatier will open its new 3,500 square metre production facility in Haren by mid-October. This expansion will enable the company to double its production immediately and even triple it in the coming years, reports L’Echo.

Marcolini is expanding particularly in Asia, contributing to double-digit growth this year and projected revenue of nearly 60 million euros. The company has already opened 10 new stores in 2024, mainly in South Korea, Japan and China, but it is also continuing to expand in Europe, particularly in the UK. Globally, the brand now has some 55 points of sale.

Despite this international expansion, and despite the fact that the chocolate maker is owned by South Korean investors, Pierre Marcolini remains attached to its Brussels roots. Marcolini still employs more than 180 people in Belgium, including some 80 artisan chocolatiers in Brussels. The chocolates brand emphasises a short supply chain to preserve the aromatic quality of its chocolate, and boasts a low staff turnover rate of less than 2%. All production continues to be based in Belgium.
