The harvest started very quickly this year and ended very quickly. Now we are harvesting silage corn, but interestingly, also grain corn. How can we sum it up?

Harvest 2024
The harvest of basic cereals, although not yet corn, has been completed. In many provinces, the average yields of cereals and rapeseed were lower than last year's, on a national scale, we estimate the harvest, including corn, at 33-33.5 million tons, which is several percent less compared to the previous season, when the harvest was at 35 million tons. Considering the level of harvest, it should be stated that the needs of the domestic market and the needs reported from abroad can be fully satisfied – Monika Piątkowska tells the farmer.pl portal.
As he adds, the Grain and Feed Chamber continues to observe a weak supply of grain on the domestic market. Farmers are waiting for better prices. They are not selling grain, storing it on their farms.

What about grain exports from Poland?
The numbers reported here are disturbing.
– Grain exports from Poland are at a much lower level compared to the same period last year. August wheat transshipments will not exceed 200 thousand tons, which means that after two months of the current season they will amount to no more than 400 thousand tons vs. 1.1 million tons in the same period last season – the president of IZP informs us.
It turns out that the lack of supply is not helping processors either.
– Both mills and feed mixing plants are trying to adjust price lists to world markets, which ends in a lack of purchases and a further reduction of stocks – says Piątkowska.
What about grain prices?
– Current grain prices in Poland are relatively low and in most cases continue their downward trend. Limited supply on the domestic market and small grain stocks stored by farmers who are waiting for better prices affect price stability – Monika Piątkowska tells us.
The President of the IZP also provides data on rapeseed. This year's harvest of this species in Poland is around 3.3 million tons, which, with domestic demand at around 3.7 million tons, means that imports will have to be used.
