Approximately 2.5 million euros were invested in the creation of the Kepler Club capsule hotel at Riga Airport, said the chairman of the board of the Turkish hotel operator Kepler, Omer Alayetinoglu, at the opening event of the hotel on Tuesday, August 27, writes Rus.TVNET .

Kepler's chairman said the hotel had been open for about a month and a half and had been used by more than 2,000 people during that time, but in the future the company would like demand to be around 3,000 people a month.

“So far, the greatest demand is from residents of the Baltic countries, Finland and Scandinavia,” he noted.

According to the airport, the hotel has 74 private lounges with a minimum stay of one hour. The hotel offers self-service check-in and check-out kiosks, as well as TV and smart amenities. Showers, changing rooms, laundry facilities and a lounge area are also available.

The hotel is divided into two areas – it is available to both pre-security passengers, before they have received their boarding pass, and to post-security passengers who are already in the terminal area waiting for their next flight. In both areas, there are separate booths for men and women, and in the public area there is also one family room.

A Kepler representative noted that negotiations on the hotel at Riga Airport began in 2019, but the geopolitical situation and the Covid-19 pandemic significantly impacted the implementation of the idea.

"Riga is Kepler's first stop in the Baltic region and Europe. We chose Riga after assessing the development of Riga Airport to date and its plans for the future. Latvia is a safe and stable place for growth and demonstrates good trends in passenger aviation," Alaetinoğlu said.

During the event, Riga Airport Board Member Arturs Savelyev noted that as the number of passengers served increases, the airport is constantly looking for opportunities to improve the existing level of service, as well as to create new amenities and experiences for passengers.

He added that the Kepler Club offer is especially suitable for travellers for whom Riga is one of the stopover points on long-haul flights, as well as those whose flights are scheduled for early morning or late evening.

The airport notes that Kepler is the second-largest tenant and sole overnight accommodation provider at Istanbul's Sabiha Gokcen International Airport terminal in Turkey, and also has two hotels at Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia.

On Tuesday, Riga Airport and Turkish hotel operator Kepler officially opened the first capsule hotel in the Baltics, Kepler Club, on the third floor of the airport terminal.
