Logistics company Omniva Group has opened the largest logistics centre in the Baltics. It is located in Kaunas, Lithuania. The new facility will significantly increase the sorting capacity of local and international parcels. Investments in the construction of the automated logistics centre amounted to more than 42 million euros. The total area of the centre is 22,000 square metres, and its technology allows sorting up to 12,000 parcels per hour. This is the company's largest investment to date. Currently, Omniva's network in the Baltics includes 1,243 parcel terminals. "The new logistics centre will significantly improve and strengthen the infrastructure of the companies," says Marc Megi, Chairman of the Board of Omniva Grupa. "The strategic location of the logistics centre will enable it to serve as the Baltic gateway to Western markets and will increase our capacity to handle the growing volume of international parcels. In parallel with the opening of the new logistics centre, we are preparing to expand the logistics centre in Tallinn and are considering providing a wider range of services in Finland," says Megi. One of the largest projects during the construction of the centre was the installation of a sorting line from Equinox Europe. This line enables parcels to be sorted and routed to 600 different individual locations (e.g. parcel terminals). The total investment in this technology was approximately 10 million euros. The logistics centre has an office area of 2,500 square metres, where 120 employees work. The logistics centre has offices with a total area of 2,500 square metres for 120 workstations, as well as four quiet rooms, three kitchens, three spacious changing rooms, six entertainment and recreation areas and a basketball court.
