Pets at Home has hired former Burger King COO Richard Dening-Smitherman as the new managing director of its vet group, Vets for Pets.
The executive, who stepped up to the role on 2 September, is in charge of leading the vet business, supported by the vet leadership team.
Before working for Burger King, Dening-Smitherman served as Nando’s CEO in the Middle East, and has previously held leadership roles at Waitrose and healthcare technology firm Intraject.

In February, the pet specialist hired former Sainsbury’s exec Anja Madsen as its new chief operating officer for retail.
Madsen, who stepped up to her role in April, joined with extensive retail experience across both the UK and Denmark, previously serving as CEO of Danish grocery chain Føtex.
