On farmer.pl we described this year's PDO results for wheat and barley. Now it's time for winter triticale.
PDO winter triticale 2024
At the outset, it should be noted that the percentage of analysed experiments from 2024 is 85%. Varieties from the National Register not examined in the last three years are: Borwo, Festino, Grenado, Leontino, Presto, Rufus, Trismart, Transfer, Tulus, Twingo, Fredro, Pizzaro, Tomko.
The benchmark in 2024 was the average yield of the following varieties: Fanfaro, Medalion, SU Atletus, SU Liborius, and in 2023 and 2022 – SU Liborius, SU Atletus, Belcanto, Medalion.
In the case of winter triticale, similarly to wheat and barley, the standard yield was lower in 2024 than in 2023 and 2022. For level a1 it was set at 88.1 dt/ha (in 2023 – 93.4 dt/ha, and in 2022 – 91.5 dt/ha). In turn, for level a2 (with higher agrotechnics) it was set at 99.9 dt/ha (2023 – 105.7 dt/ha, 2022 – 100.1 dt/ha).

Which triticale varieties yielded the highest in 2024 according to PDO?
We show the first "eight" of the list. First, the percentage of yield of the a1 standard, then the a2 level, and in brackets the degree of winter hardiness (on a 9-point scale):
- Comodoro – 108 percent of the standard yield, 104 percent of the standard yield (5),
- Promiso – 105 percent of the standard yield, 108 percent of the standard yield (3.5),
- Tributo – 105 percent of the standard yield, 101 percent of the standard yield (5),
- SU Atletus – 104 percent of the standard yield, 103 percent of the standard yield (4),
- Medallion – 104 percent of the standard yield, 101 percent of the standard yield (5.5),
- Heroico – 103 percent of the standard yield, 97 percent of the standard yield (4.5),
- Metro – 100 percent of the standard yield, 97 percent of the standard yield (5.5),
- SU Laurentius – 100 percent of the standard yield, 99 percent of the standard yield (3).
