On farmer.pl we have already published data on the yield of winter wheat PDO 2024, now it is time for winter barley. – The information contains the yield results of all varieties registered as of August 12, 2024, except for varieties that have not been tested in the last three years. The average national grain yield results in 2024 are given against the background of the two previous years, while the yield assessments in the regions cover only the last year of research. The results come from experiments conducted as part of the Post-Registration Variety Experimentation Program (PDO), and for new varieties – from registration experiments. Additionally, an assessment of winter hardiness is provided – informs COBORU.

PDO winter wheat 2024. Which varieties yielded the highest?
The standard yield was lower than in previous years
Preliminary yield results of varieties in post-registration experiments winter barley 2024 were lower than in previous years. The standard yield was calculated from the average in 2024 and 2023 for varieties such as: Jakubus, KWS Morris, Teuto; and in 2022 – Jakubus, KWS Morris, Mirabelle.
The standard yield for level a1 was 78.6 dt/ha this year, while last year it was 90.1 dt/ha, and in 2022 it was 96.6 dt/ha. It was similar at the higher agrotechnical level, i.e. a2, where the standard yield was in 2024 94.3 dt/ha, in 2023 103.4 dt/ha, and in 2022 108.8 dt/ha.

Which multi-row forage varieties had the highest yields?
We show the first "five" of the list in individual groups. First, the percentage of yield of the a1 standard, then the a2 level, and in brackets the degree of winter hardiness (on a 9-point scale):
- Venezia – 105 percent of the standard yield, 100 percent of the standard yield (5),
- KWS Morris – 104 percent of the standard yield, 101 percent of the standard yield (4.5),
- KWS Exquis – 103 percent of the standard yield, 101 percent of the standard yield (5),
- Julia – 103 percent of the standard yield, 101 percent of the standard yield (4.5),
- RGT Mela – 103 percent of the standard yield, 101 percent of the standard yield (5).
Which two-row forage varieties had the highest yields?
We show the first "three" of the list in individual groups. First, the percentage of yield of the a1 standard, then the a2 level, and in brackets the degree of winter hardiness (on a 9-point scale):
- Finesse – 103 percent of the standard yield, 97 percent of the standard yield (5),
- Aleksandra – 102 percent of the standard yield, 96 percent of the standard yield (4.5),
- LG Casting – 101 percent of the standard yield, 95 percent of the standard yield (4).
