The joint stock company "Pasažieru vilciens" has currently received 25 out of 32 new electric trains from the Czech company "Škoda Vagonka", PV representatives told LETA. PV representatives noted that all delivered electric trains can carry passengers, and currently run daily on electrified lines 23 trains, since according to industry practice, two or three electric trains must be kept in reserve. The company also noted that the trains undergo regular scheduled maintenance in accordance with the manufacturer's plan, so currently some routes are still operated by older electric trains. Once the manufacturer has delivered all the trains, the new Škoda electric trains will be used on all routes. By the end of July, Škoda Vagonka should deliver seven more electric trains.
