Lidl wants consumers to get to know the Parkside brand better. The company also wants to present its full range of tools.
Parkside Store in Poland
Lidl has opened two such stores so far: in Biatorbágy (near Budapest in Hungary) and one in Bytom. In Poland, the German discounter has opened a 100-square-meter store offering a complete range of DIY products, from grinders, hammers and screwdrivers to accessories and other tools.
Local media reported that the opening of the Parkside store in Biatorbágy was a huge success, with hundreds of interested customers showing up, causing long queues. Lidl said the store was a test and that the Parkside range would remain available in stores and online.
Parkside is a very important brand for Lidl
Lidl has been investing in expanding its non-food offering for some time now. In this way, Parkside is becoming a strategic own brand for the discounter. Last year, the retailer even hired American actor and politician Arnold Schwarzenegger as the face of the brand.
The retaildetail.eu portal points out that this is not the first time Lidl has experimented with separate (pop-up) stores for its own brands: in June, the discounter opened a temporary store in the centre of Antwerp to showcase a wide range of children’s products under its own brand Lupilu. In its supermarkets, the retailer does not have enough space to present its full non-food range. Moreover, in an offline environment, consumers can see, touch, feel and test products.
– Parkside tools are very popular and are valued for their good price-quality ratio. The brand's offer includes devices designed for various jobs, battery-powered and corded, as well as accessories such as bits, screws, drills, clothes and gadgets. We are gradually expanding our range of Parkside products because this is what our customers expect. They regularly appear in Lidl Polska stores. Additionally, the products are available in our online store – said Aleksandra Robaszkiewicz, Head of Corporate Communications and CSR Lidl Polska in April this year.
Who manufactures Parkside tools?
Parkside is Lidl's own brand. Power tools are manufactured by the German company Kompernass, which also runs its own online store in Poland.
Lidl own-brand products are already available on global online platforms such as Amazon, Manomano, Ebay and Otto.
