Area Cooling Solutions is an innovative company, founded in 1995 in Lower Silesia, which employs approximately 160 people. It invests in high-demand solutions such as inverter-controlled condensing units and CO2 condensing units. Its products are technologically related to Panasonic condensing units, as they have long used Panasonic compressors. This company profile prompted Panasonic to start discussions about the acquisition to accelerate the construction of solid foundations for the development of the group's European operations. However, the acquisition does not include the distribution business of compressors and other HVACR components, which is also run by Area Cooling Solutions.
Cooperation between Area Cooling Solutions and Panasonic
The European Union's F-gas regulation, as well as the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol, significantly restrict the production, consumption, import and export of HFCs, which are widely used as refrigerants in cold chain equipment. As a result, the market needs alternatives with a lower global warming potential. Europe is at the forefront of these environmental initiatives, committed to climate neutrality and customer preference for greener technologies. Panasonic, which has become a leading manufacturer of CO2 condensing units in the Japanese market, sees Europe as its most important market in the future.
Area Cooling Solutions and Panasonic will share resources and create synergies in the condensing unit industry to develop products that better meet customer needs, produce locally in Europe, which significantly shortens the supply chain, and ultimately increase the use of technologically advanced Panasonic condensing units in the European market.
