The Ozon online marketplace will expand testing of postpayment to most product categories, Interfax writes. From August 8, 2024, the company’s clients will be able to pay for orders upon receipt at the pickup point. The company has been testing postpayment at pickup points since October 2022.

Previously, payment after receiving the goods at the Ozon pickup point was available only for clothing, shoes, accessories and jewelry. Now the restriction on postpayment will remain only for very large or heavy goods, categories that are easily damaged at the point of issue or during transportation (bulk goods, some types of electronics, perfumes), goods with a limited shelf life.
“The experience of introducing postpayment has shown that customers are more willing to make purchases and order more. The average price of postpaid goods turned out to be 1.5 times higher, the average order receipt was a third higher than that of prepaid orders. In addition to increasing customer loyalty, postpayment provides additional sales growth for our sellers, which is very important,” explained Ozon Customer Experience Director Natalya Boer.
To avoid situations where the client potentially cannot pay for the order, Ozon will limit the amount of the maximum postpayment: the greater the amount of purchases made, the higher the available limit. Moreover, if the consumer refuses orders too often, postpayment will be canceled for him.
