
The United Credit Bureau (UCB) summed up the results of citizens’ credit activity from January to June 2024.

It turned out that in the first half of 2024, Russians issued 34.98 million loan agreements in all lending segments for 11.33 trillion rubles. Compared to the second half of 2023, the reduction in the number of issues was 4%, the volume of issues remained virtually unchanged. From July to December last year, 36.40 million loans worth 11.32 trillion rubles were issued. On an annual basis, the volume of issuances increased by 27%, the number by 7%. In the first half of last year, banks issued 32.61 loans worth 8.90 trillion rubles.
In the second quarter of this year, 18.30 million loans worth 7.53 trillion rubles were issued. Compared to Q1 2024, the number of issues increased by 10%, volume – by 98%. From January to March this year, 16.68 million loans worth 3.81 trillion rubles were issued. At the same time, compared to the results in the second quarter. 2023, the number of issues increased by 4%, the volume of issues – by 49%. From April to June last year, 17.67 thousand loans worth 5.06 trillion rubles were issued.
In June, Russians issued 6.07 million loans from banks for a total amount of 3.15 trillion rubles. Compared to May of this year, the number of issues decreased by 3%, and the volume increased by 11%.
The top 5 regions in terms of issuance volumes in all lending segments in June included: Moscow – 392.15 thousand loans worth 506.55 billion rubles, Moscow region. – 340.08 thousand loans for 259.34 billion rubles, Krasnodar Territory – 232.16 thousand loans for 187.44 billion rubles, St. Petersburg – 205.82 thousand loans for 135.13 billion rubles. and Sverdlovsk region — 194.44 thousand loans for 134.10 billion rubles.
In June, mortgages occupied the largest share of the total loan funds – 42%. Cash loans come in second place with 33%, followed by credit cards with 15%, car loans with 9%, and POS loans with a traditional share of 2%.
