OKB: according to the results of July, the average limit on credit cards increased to 136 thousand rubles.

The United Credit Bureau (UCB) summed up the results of credit card issuances in July 2024. It turned out that in July, banks opened 2.31 million credit card agreements with a total limit of 314.47 billion rubles.

Year-on-year, the number of issues decreased by 1%, the total volume of approved limits increased by 7%. In July last year, 2.33 million cards were issued for RUB 294.59 billion. The average limit increased by 7%: from RUB 127 thousand in July 2023 to RUB 136 thousand in July 2024.

Compared to the results of June 2024, in July the number of credit card issues decreased by 4%, the volume increased by 6%. In June, 2.41 million cards were issued with a total limit of 295.69 billion rubles. The average credit card limit increased by 11%, in June it was 123 thousand rubles.

In total, according to the results of 7 months of 2024, Russians issued 16.43 million credit cards for 1.94 trillion rubles. Compared to the same period last year, the number and volume of issues increased by 9%. From January to July 2023, banks issued 15.10 million cards with a total limit of 1.79 trillion rubles.

The number of credit card issues in the regions of the Russian Federation in July decreased compared to the results of June. The exception was the Republic of Yakutia, where the number of credit cards issued during the month remained almost at the same level. The volume of card limits in most regions decreased, the largest decrease was recorded in the Jewish Autonomous Region: -31%. The indicator remained unchanged during the month in the Komi Republic, Bashkortostan, Yakutia and Tyumen Oblast.

The TOP-5 regions by credit card limit volumes in July were: Moscow – 173.45 thousand cards with a total limit of RUB 33.09 billion, Moscow Region – 132.91 thousand cards for RUB 22.21 billion, St. Petersburg – 89.61 thousand cards for RUB 13.27 billion, Krasnodar Region – 82.46 thousand cards for RUB 11.39 billion and Sverdlovsk Region – 68.19 thousand cards for RUB 8.43 billion.

The average limit on credit cards issued in the regions in July has mostly increased compared to the results of June. The largest card limits in July were approved for residents of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug — an average of 321 thousand rubles. In Moscow, the average card limit was 191 thousand rubles, in the Moscow Region — 167 thousand rubles, in St. Petersburg — 148 thousand rubles, and in the Leningrad Region — 129 thousand rubles.
