The Norwegian government called for the Chinese trading platform Temu in the European Economic Zone (EEA), because it sells toxic products.After the Norwegian agency for the environment discovered toxins in Temu’s products, The government announced that it is prepared to ban this platform in Norway,
the local television channel TV2 reported. According to the media, in children’s necklaces sold on Temu, there was 88% cadmium detected. According to the European Union (EU) Directive on the safety of toys, the maximum content of
this toxic substance in toys is 0.02%. A test of children’s products sold on Temu showed that the majority of these contain substances, which should be kept away from children, the Norwegian Minister
of Environment Andreas Bjellann Bjellann Eriksen reported on the LinkedIn website. The European Commission (EC) is expected to publish its
new strategy for electronic commerce platforms on Wednesday. “We are ready to ban this service. “There is no doubt we need more
rigorous sanctions,” said Eriksen, calling for a “European solution” to the problem. Norway is not a member of the EU, but, becoming
apartoftheEuropeaneconomiczone,itis subject totheEUrequirementsforgoods.
