The results “more than offset the ongoing headwinds in the challenging luxury market, particularly in China,” said Chief Executive Vincent Warnery. The group’s luxury brand, La Prairie, has indeed been hurt by falling consumer spending in China.
Stable profit for Beiersdorf
Nevertheless, EBIT fell from 852 to 838 million euros. Beiersdorf attributes this setback to initial investments and marketing expenses, but believes that everything will be on track by the end of the year. Profit after tax remained more or less stable at 590 million euros.
