Rapeseed and soybean forecast
Global rapeseed production rose by 0.9 million tonnes to 88.8 million tonnes, mainly due to Russia’s larger area. Global sunflower production fell by 2.3 million tonnes to 52.5 million due to unfavourable weather conditions affecting crops in Ukraine, Russia, the EU, Turkey, Serbia and Moldova.
Expected global soybean production in 2024/25 increased by 6.9 million tonnes to 428.7 million, driven by higher production in the U.S., Ukraine, Russia, India and Benin. Production was revised upwards on forecasts for larger areas.
What soybean harvest?
Global soybean exports rose 1.0 million tonnes to 181.2 million, driven by higher exports to the US, Ukraine, Russia and Benin, partly offset by lower shipments from Argentina. Soybean imports rose for Egypt, the EU, Iran and Turkey.
Global 2024/25 soybean ending stocks rose 6.5 million tonnes to 134.3 million, driven primarily by higher stocks in China, the U.S., and Argentina, partially offset by lower stocks in Brazil. Stock revisions in China and Brazil reflect changes in trade for 2023/24. Chinese 2023/24 imports rose to 111.5 million tonnes on higher shipments from exporters. Brazilian exports rose to 105.0 million tonnes on strong shipment momentum in July.
