New car sales fell in Europe and Lithuania (traders.lt)

After publishing the latest information of the Association of European Automobile Manufacturers, it became clear that during the last summer month of this year, both in our country and in the European Union, a drop in new car sales was recorded.

Compared to August of last year, they have shrunk by almost seven percent in our country, while in the common union they have fallen by over eighteen percent (the first drop in three months).

In August, a total of 643,637 thousand new cars were registered in the European Union. Among the big markets, sales in Germany contracted the most, that is, by 27.8 percent, in France – by 24.3 percent, in Italy – by 13.4 percent, and in Spain, it fell the least, that is, by 6.5 percent.

In Lithuania, the sales of electric cars fell by as much as 30.5 percent, in the common union – by 43.9 percent, gasoline cars fell by 35.2 and 17.1 percent respectively, and diesel cars – by 2.6 and 26.4 percent. Meanwhile, the number of plug-in hybrid new cars registered in Lithuania was as much as 43 percent more, while in the European Union this indicator fell by 22.3 percent, while hybrid electric cars rose by 13.5 and 6.6 percent, respectively.

As for the big car manufacturers, last month sales in quantitative terms in the general union fell the most in the case of Stellantis, that is, even 29.5 percent. New cars of the BWM group were registered 15.6 percent less, the Volkswagen group – 14.8 percent, the Hyundai group – 14.5 percent, the Renault group – 13.9 percent, in the case of Mercedes-Benz the drop reached almost thirteen percent, and the Toyota group – 4.3 percent.

In total, 7.181 million people were registered in the European Union during the eight months of this year. of new cars, or 1.4 percent more than a year ago during the same period. In Lithuania, this indicator also rose similarly, ie by 1.2 percent.

In terms of major markets, sales in Spain grew by 4.5 percent and in Italy by 3.8 percent, while France and Germany contracted by 0.5 percent and 0.3 percent respectively.
