In Latvia, new car sales have decreased by 15.6% in the first eight months of this year compared to the same period last year. Similar trends are observed in seven other EU countries, according to information from the European Automobile Manufacturers Association. In the period from January to July 2024, 10,119 new cars were registered in Latvia. Fewer cars were also purchased this year in Ireland (-0.3%), Belgium (-1.2%), the Netherlands (-3.6%), Luxembourg (-4.3%), Sweden (-5.9%), Estonia (-13.8%) and Finland (-16.7%). At the same time, there are countries where, on the contrary, growth has been noted. For example, new car sales in Bulgaria have increased by 28.4% this year, in Poland – by 16.4%, in Malta – by 14%, in Croatia – by 13.4%, and in Romania – by 12.6%.
