The economic situation favors discount stores. Poles, looking for savings, reach for cheaper products and increasingly choose their own brands. Discount stores are strengthening their valuable share as a sales channel for FMCG products. In addition, they conduct intensive advertising communication, claiming that they are the cheapest on the market. In practice, this is not always the case, but customers accept this rhetoric.
How many Biedronkas, how many net?
In 2023, Biedronka opened 203 new stores. Taking into account the closure of branches, the chain increased by 174 stores. At the end of the year, Biedronka had 3,569 outlets.
The Netto chain has been present on the Polish market for 28 years. During this time, it has developed a position as one of the largest retailers in the country, with over 660 stores and employing over 8,000. people.
Since the acquisition of Tesco Polska in 2021, Netto Polska has implemented a new Netto 3.0 store model.
