
Major milk and eggs
The value of Dutch exports of agricultural products and food has reached a new record in last year. According to actual estimates from the University in Wageningen and the Dutch Statistical Office (CBS) the corresponding revenue increased by 5.9 million euros, that is by 4.8 proc. in comparison with the year 2023, reaching a total of 128.9 billion euro.
The main cause of this was higher prices. The share of reexports, that is of previously imported agricultural products and food articles, is estimated at 35.3 percent. in the report year and is the same on the same level as in the previous year.
The major products exported by Holland in 2024 year. were dairy products and eggs, which generated 12.3 billion euros.
In the next place were growing beans, with output 11.9 billion euros.
Also before the border sold meat of value 10.7 billion euros, vegetables of value 8.9 billion euros and fruits of value 8.6 billion euros. Exports of processed vegetables and fruits generated income of 7.4 billion euros.
Export of agricultural technology
According to reports in the last year abroad sold also products related to this sector, such as agricultural machinery, with an estimated value of 14.0 billion euros, which is an amount of 500 million euros higher than the level of 2023 .
The largest share still had agricultural machinery, though foreign sales in this country declined by 200 million euro to 3.0 million euro. The second and third most important group of products was construction materials for glaziers of a value of 2.7 billion euros) and fertilizers of a value of 2.2 billion euros. On the next place were machinery for food production, with a value of 2.0 billion euros.
Most important importers
According to calculations by statisticians and researchers, Germany still remains the most important buyer of agricultural and industrial products from the Netherlands. The value of this is 33.9 billion euros. This has increased by 22.6 billion euros compared to the year 2023.
The second trade partner of Holland remains Belgium, which increased the value of its imports by 900 million euro 17.1 billion euro).
The third place was held by France, where in 2024 year. The Netherlands sold goods of a value of 11.9 billion euros. In the previous year that was 200 million euros less.
The fourth most important buyer, and the same most important customer of third countries, was the UK.Britain, which increased its imports by 283 million francs (300 million euros) to 10.5 billion euros in comparison with the previous year.
Revenues from trade with US in 2024 year. were 4.5 billion euros, which represents an increase of 100 million euros.
In contrast, revenues of Dutch exporters of agricultural products from trade with China declined by over 400 million euro to 3.1 billion euro.
Statisticians attribute this negative development situation to significantly lower milk exports in powder for infants and pork to the PRC, which according to experts results from increased domestic production in China. Also the consumption of milk for infants has declined there due to a slowdown in economic development and a decline in births.
The Dutch imports
whereas the Netherlands has increased expenditures on imports of agricultural products, food and products related to industry by a
total amount of 2.4 billion euros, i.e. by 2.7 proc., to an amount of 91.6 billion
euros. From this amount experts estimate, that about 86.1 billion euro will be spent on imports
of
agricultural products and food, which is an increase by 2.6 billion euro in
comparison with the year 2023.
